m a 28 year old single mom of 2 boys ages 3 & 5. I am pregnant with my 3rd child. My due date is Dec. 11, 2010. My husband (hopefuly soon to be ex-husband) is in prision. He was mentally, physcialy, & emotionaly abusive to me. Some times in front of our boys. I can now say I am better off without him, & what he did to me was not my fault!I am not afraid of him anymore! I plan to file for divorce before he gets out. Eventhough I am better off I am struggling. My boys & I are living at my mom's house while I'm trying to get back on my feet. After my 1st child was born I was made to quit my job & become a stay at home mom while him & his family supported us. Dont get me wrong I loved being at home with my boys. But now its been 5 1/2 almost 6yrs since I have had a job. I put in atleast 3 or 4 job applications a day for the past 3months. Jobs ranging from administrative assistant/clerical (which I have over 7yrs experience) to fast food resturants. I have gotten many interviews but not hired by anyone. I keep hearing the same 2 reasons over & over, "you've been out of the work force longer than we care for" & "you are highly qualified for the position but we want someone we can depend on being here 6mon to 1yr from now & since you are expeciting you will have to take tim
e off for doctor apointments and maternity leave. I am so sorry. Come back next year & we may be able to work something out then." I get in my car & cry. My boys need school clothes, supplies, food, etc now. I need furniture, clothing, diapers, etc. for the baby soon. My mom & family help as much as they can when they can. I wish I could find help/ assistance so my boys can start school in new clothes, get McDonalds every once in a while when they have been extra good or get a good report card, get a birthday gift from me that I actually got not my name added to a card, etc. Also so the baby can have a crib to sleep in & not in the bed with me & the boys, have a safe carseat, diapers, clothes, etc. & so I can file for divorce (thats all I want for myself) I need help with baby items, clothing for my boys, finding a job even if I only make $4.50-$5 an hour workin full time or part time. Whatever I can get. A little bit is better than nothing.
